We picked up a used IP 500 V2. We are mainly just going to reuse the IP phones as some replacements and spares. There is a UC Module V2 in the control unit that I don't have any use for. I never really used these because they seems to be unreliable. Maybe the V2 is different?? IDK.

I will probably just sell it on ebay or something but I need to make sure its working. Can someone please remind how to access it? Can I access it just by connecting a laptop to the LAN1 or LAN2 port.

thank you.

I recall there were problems with the flash memory in V1.

Not sure which release your IPO is in but have a look at UCM

Page 52 shows the LEDs and page 55 shows how to view in SSA. You can access from a web browser but this is probably passworded.

You can access the UCM through the web interface but you would need the credentials to do so and there are no "default" credentials you can try to use. Unless they gave you this information you would have to re-setup the UCM from scratch to test it. Depending on how you value your time you might be better off ditching the stupid thing...

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

This is what it should look like

The release should match the IP Office.

If it were me, I would connect a keyboard and monitor to it. It is basically an application server on a cracker. The monitor should show you the IP to connect to.

Dermis and feline can be divorced by manifold methods.*
*(Disclaimer for all advise given)--'Version Dependent'

I think the monitor has to be plugged in before the UCM is started so that it is recognised.

I will try this out today! thank you! I assume the number of voice mail ports is directly proportional to the licensing on the IP Office?

Also, once I have figured out the IP address, is it all web interface from there? I have not really ever used one of these, but I have an upcoming application that it might work for. It is now a 9.0 software on the IP Office, I plan on upgrading the IP Office control unit to R11. If I decided I want to use the UC module on R11, I assume somehow I will need to upgrade the UC module to R11?

Yep. VmPro comes with 4 ports by default. You can run this on the UCM or the application server on bare metal portal or virtual machine (which seems to be the preferred option).

The IP address may not help as the UCM install forces a password change so unless this you have to start from scratch. You'd need access to the install files from Avaya which needs a contract.

A business partner can confirm the upgrade cost but you need to allow for the cost of upgrading essential edition, VoiceMail Pro and any other licenses.

Is there a default procedure for the UC at its current level?

Nope no way to "default" the UCM. You have to set it up from scratch. Like I said earlier, depending on how you value your time, it might not even be worth you time.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

If you connect to the HDMI port you should see something like this if it is working

I have not managed to set up a keyboard and monitor yet because I am lacking the right connections.

I did however gain access to the voicemail Pro without any issues. Seems they kept the default passwords. I can just default the IP office and clear the voicemail Pro and reprogram it.

The one thing I'm not sure about is uploading the custom wav files that I like to use. I know how to find them under windows but not using Linux. Any thoughts?

I would strongly discorage this, there could well be recordings on the unit of sensitive nature that would not be deleted by this approach
wipe the SSD & re-install (or even leave the pleasure of the reinstall to the purchaser on ebay, just make sure your listing states that the firmware needs to be reinstalled!)
As to uploading custome prompts I sugest you read the Administration manuals for Application server.

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

I am going to attempt to use the UC module myself to upgrade a customer. Worst case is I have to install a Windows PC and dump the UC. I will look at the manual and see what it takes to reinstall. If I can't figure it out, I can always pay one of you guys to work on it for me.. LOL.

Be careful with that route if you go R11.1 you can NOT install on a Windows PC. Stick to R11.0 (or older) if that is your plan.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

So anything R 11.1 and beyond is going to require an Application Server?

@Z-man, yes. All services will be linux based going forward.

I used to be an ACE. Now I'm just an Arse.

Seems to work well. No Linux knowledge needed as web based admin - and no need for Windows licenses.

Web admin is garbage.
Still need a windows pc to manage voicemail though...

for this one we are just going to go to R11 and R11.1. I am looking for someone to assist me in taking the UC module from a 9.0 to R11 if anyone is interested?? paid of course. I don't expect all the expertise for free..LOL. I will have the IP Office Control Unit upgraded to R11 in a few days once I get the PLDS files from Avaya...
