So I was looking for a new station number in my Avaya s8710 and noticed that most of the numbers were used. I did a "list sta" and noticed that the numbers not being used said "Unassigned" in the name column. Is this normal practice or should I go through and start removing all the numbers that aren't being used? Thanks.

someone must have built them then and named them to unassigned as when you do a list station it would only show assigned extensions, also status the unassigned station and you will see it's most likely not in service

I'm assuming they are not being used as there are no ports being used. Could this be why my system says I'm using 89% of my stations? Is there any benefit to removing all these numbers? Thanks

won't cause any harm and it will free up licenses as well

What happens when you call an "unassigned" number? Is the coverage path different? Perhaps someone thought that was the best way to set up vacant number routing so unused DIDs ring to the attendant instead of unavailable.

Just a guess.
