Avaya Softphone on Windows 8

I am attempting to install the avaya softphone on a client pc that is running Windows 8. It installs just fine but I cannot get ot to connect to the phone system. I can ping the IP Ofiice from the client pc. Just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem?

ACSS, ACIS, CCNA, CCNA Wireless, Network+, CTP

There was an issue with the customer's pc that he was able to fix. Thanks for the reply.
