Hi

one of our customers want the softphone on his computer, so we have bought in installed one poweruser licence on the IP Office9, done all the changes to his user profile to allow him this feature.

The license is showing up as valid.

IP route is also set correctly according to what i can see from the guides I have been reading.

no ip no sub but a default gateway is set to our default route with a metric 1

The AVaya is a IP500 with a IP400 attached as well.

When I try to start the Softphone application on the computer for some reason it cant find the server ???

If i ping the server it responds fine ?

Computer and phonesystem is running on the same network 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0

what is wrong ?

im quite new at phonesystems (this is my first)...

any help will be greatly appriciated

/Kenneth

The 2050 is supported on Business Communications Manager (BCM) and not on IP Office.

hi gwebster

thanks for your quick reply....

Why is there guides out there showing its possible ?

Is there any other softphone we should get that will work with IP Office ?

/Kenneth

You can find the IP Office Softphone for Windows and MAC on the Admin CD.

Hi Janni

The customer was so feed up with their previous IT solution company that they pulled us in, so we don't have any ADMIN CD, can't we download it somewhere ?

What version should we look for ?

/Kenneth

I assumed the 2050 softphone was a general application working across platforms.

But shouldnt there be a version that works with IP Office ?

/Kenneth

You don't need to be a certified phone tech to install a softphone on a PC, I think they have better things to do or at least I have, but you need an account on the Avaya support site to get the software.

You can download it from support.avaya.com

sorry to be a little rude but time after time newbies come on here and expect us to solve their phone issues with little or no formal training, or they will do little research to find solutions to their problems, with that said,if this is a customer of yours then you should be in a position to have at least basic ipoffice training to solve their issues, again sorry but the questions that you are asking can be found at support.avaya.com

You didn't state which documents was misleading but they may have been references to 2050 telephone - a physical telephone that was supported by early releases of IP400 IP Office systems.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Glad you got it working! try to register at support.avaya.com, then going forward you will have tons of resources at your disposal.
