Just having listened to Avaya's customer announcements it look lile the BCM product is set to go and converge into IP office.

They say they will continue to sell and support and indeed develop BCM for 2-3 years more but longer term the IP office platform is strategic for them.

It appears that CS1000 will survive in the combined roadmap, with the addition of the Aura platform.

Nortel's CC7 will be developed from mid market and scaled up to the enterprise space and become their contact centre solution.

They sure were pushing we embrace and loop at having Office IP as an overseer to the legacy products. Time to move on and embrace the integration, in the end we may be installing a stronger product.

Agreed - they also spoke strongly about integratig the best of both products into IP office and will support Nortel's phones on IP office int he future.

Int he Q&A section there was reference to BCM release 6 but with mention that this will be reviewed now.

It suggested BCM will be available into 2011 and supported until 2017.

Yes BCM 50 and BCM450 as of Feb no more BCM 200 & 400

There seem to have been no reference to the Norstar Call Pilot end of pruduction, are they still manufacturing these products. The only talk I heard was integration with the Aura

If it's supported till 2017, does that mean that we will still be able to purchase licences till that time?

I think the Road Map was pretty muddy. They told everyone that the branding will change in a couple of years (OR more). They way the put it was "with a long tail". They plan to integrate the features of both products and most importantly compatibility with all phones. The installed base for Norstar and BCM far outweigh the IP Office. It would appear to me that the BCM technology will be retained and the box will eventually be branded IP Office (I would do the same). If they have a 2 year window and stick to Nortel timelines, you will see the BCM for 3 years. That is pretty much a end of cycle of this product no matter who owns it. It was pretty good news. If you are installing BCM, keep installing BCM.

gm85 I beleive product sale will end 2011 but product support will go until 2017, that's how Nortel has worked in the past

It's a shame they are ditching BCM. I thought from a hardware perspective Nortel really hit the nail on the head with the 450. Also BCM's contact center offering is by far, superior to the IPOffice. Avaya have never really got a good CC oferring for IPO in my experience. Just my opinion though.

I think Avaya are going about this the wrong way entirely.
