Hey Avaya !!
It's tough enough out in the real world selling against the Cloud providers of Free phones. How can I retain my customer base and earn a living whilst these Avaya Dealers are allowed to sell your wares on AMAZON, eating away at our margins !!!
For Example;

This has to be an open violation of the Avaya Dealer Agreement as well as violation of Gray Market Code.
Please don't tell me to sell the 'Value Add' of being an onsite service company as a reason they should buy from us.

"Never fear billing a client for services rendered, or they will think your time is worthless"

Had a customer that was expanding and wanted to purchase 80 more handsets. I sent them a quote and they said they can find them cheaper on Amazon. I let them know that we won't support or install handsets that are purchased from an online retailer. Lost a pretty good sale because of stuff like this.

no charge them to install them and when they break tell them it's their issue not yours

and charge them again for troubleshooting it :)

This is why we can't compete with online pricing, we are doing service after installing it, we answer stupid and smart questions that are raised by customers we have acquired knowledge and keep it up and renew it.
And we have to feed our families because we don't do that out of the goodness of our hearts

I am an end user, and i like the fact that sometimes i can get replacement phones and parts on amazon. I dont ask my dealer to service or install the phones, and if i did i wouldnt expect it to be free. But i think it can hurt having these alternste options available, since it could make ipo more desirable to the end user, instead of a super closed product.

I bought a few new open box 9608g for $45 on amazon, i dont think any major corporation would buy these, just much smaller businesses like myself.

I have lost more sales this year than any other. I do not even mark up Avaya hardware. I buy as an Avaya Affiliate. I inform all potential buyers of the rules. Yet they go Amazon anyway. And Avaya simply does not care. They are allowing their own distributors and partners to suffer.

That have been flirting with bankruptcy for years, they likely need to sell off assets to stay afloat shortly, no they don't care where the money comes from :)

as an example.

C2000 sell Avaya kit. its also all over ebay and other etailers.

Issue is here people buying bundles and splitting them as individual handsets. This includes licenses. You see competitor quotes and wonder WTF as the customer is showing you a price that you know is well below your cost.

So many "resellers" here going bust due to insane competition and the quality of service is shocking (they don't even know how to setup disconnect clear for analog lines or have multiple DHCP servers on same network). I have lost count of number of train wreck configurations I have been asked to fix.

Ultimately comes down to relationship with customer and ability to explain what is going on and the service they will get when buying from you.

Basically, when you can buy a laptop for the price you're asking for an IP phone...you're always going to struggle :)

I have done at lot of service for customer who bought equipement on e-bay and amazon. Since I didn't sell them the equipement its a lot easier to tell them it will not work. Last Saturday I went out to a place that was trying to install IP phones (9608) to a system without AVIP licenses. The client though they were saving money buying phones on e-bay.

I can see the point of view of the customer and the BP but remember that the regulators take a dim view of price fixing.

@ipohead
Try to be an Apple Resller and post a product for less than Apples Minimal List Price and see what happens to your Apple Dealership...
Point of the matter is that Avaya does not enforce their policy regarding selling the product on the internet, allowing for the wild west mentality and whoring out the product...
In the long run, the product gets a bad reputation from being installed incorrectly by Non-Avaya certified resellers, whilst in the meantime erosion of margins that keep us in business.

Andy, those UK eBuyer prices include VAT, so much less than our buying price really.

This kind of thing is a daily argument with our customers.

Avaya do not care 1 bit. They still get the same trade price per unit no matter how it ends up at the customer.
