Hi,
I am trying to upload the latest recommended 96xx firmware and I get the error "No package certificate found- Exciting...". Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I am trying to upload 6.8.2 and am running R016x.03.0.141.0.

Avaya states this:

"Release 6.8.2 is supported on the 9608, 9608G, 9611G, 9621G, 9641G, and 9641GS IP Deskphones and J169 and J179 IP Phones only and when used with Avaya Aura Communications Manager 6.3.6 and above, and IP Office 10.0 Service Pack 7 and above. It will not load or operate on any other models."

Thanks!

Probably extracted the ZIP in a folder with other firmware and chose not to overwrite the signatures folder

Avaya firmware bundles have a checksum, like MD5 or SHA256 run against each bin to make sure that it was downloaded correctly and then the signature is a further hashing of that checksum with Avaya's code signing certificate. That's how the phone knows the file is complete AND from Avaya.

Like Windows when you pop in a junky USB peripheral and Windows says "this driver is unsigned". Yeah, well Avaya phones only run code that is signed. So, i suspect your signatures folder doesn't have the right signatures for the files 96x1Hupgrade.txt told the phones to grab.

Need to gain root access over utility server (ticket to avaya) and then run the Linux commands to extract and install the firmware or you can upgrade to utility server 7.0 or newer.

Oh darn. Yeah, didn't read. The old utility servers don't have the new certs Avaya uses to sign firmware so it won't let you upload it without calling Avaya like avayaguy23 said or being clever and hacking root on it.

Resolved- Avaya uploaded the new certs and I can now upload the firmware. Thanks!
