We have many 9611g phones with users that have multiple lines on their phones with
aut-msg-wt buttons for the department voice mail. The aut-msg-wt button does not show up on the first display,
but show up on the second page, even though the programming has it on a first page.

FBONCAS is the parameter you'd want to check in the 46xxsettings file.
Feature buttons on call appearance screen is what it stands for. By default, your feature keys are on your next page.

I am having a similar issue as Jim0523. I have a 9621 ip phone and the only assigned buttons that are showing up on the active screen are the call appearance buttons. All the phones at this site went down a few days ago and all but this one phone came back up without issue.

kyle555 - Where would I go to change the 46xxsettings file ?

In the DHCP scope for that VLAN handling phones, option 242, there is a string called HTTPSRVR (or TLSSRVR).

So, if HTTPSRVR=10.10.10.10,HTTPDIR=phonestuff, the phone goes
Its just a text file residing somewhere in your network. Avaya does have a vitual machine that does DHCP and file server duties that you can use, but most people opt to manage it themselves. So, that file lives wherever the DHCP string points the phone to get it from.

Change that up, reboot your phone to pull the new file and check it out.

If you feel like being prudent, get a separate VLAN with a separate DHCP string and use something like HTTPDIR=testing_folder_so_i_don't_break_production

Also, maybe I was thinking too much, but the phone's options or IP settings would tell you where the file server was located too.

kyle555 - Thank You for that info !!

I saw your reply to Jim0523 and thought maybe the 46xxsetting file might be the reason for me as well. As far as the 46xxsetting file Do you think I am on the right track for this issue or should I be looking elsewhere since this phone was working before the outage and all the other phones there are fine ?

I have a 9621 ip phone and the only assigned buttons that are showing up on the active screen are the call appearance buttons. ( Send Calls, Directory are examples of some of the other programed buttons that are missing but I see programed still in the switch ) All the phones at this site went down a few days ago due to a network issue and all but this one phone came back up without issue.

CM Reports as: R016x.02.0.823.0

Maybe the phone is statically addressed and skipped DHCP entirely? You can "status station" in CM to get its IP and MAC, check your DHCP and HTTP server logs.

You can also "reset ip-stations" and specify a range/network region of phones to reset, and if you start/end at the same IP - that of your 1 phone, you can reset it and maybe look at your DHCP and HTTP logs on the fly and see if its asking for an IP and the settings file thereafter.

If it were statically addressed, going into the admin menu (mute, 27238, #) and selecting "clear values" on the phone ought to drop everything and make it do DHCP normally again.

***Figured it out.

It ended up being just the QTP ( Quick Touch Panel ) setting. Got this out of the user guide for the 9621:

" When you use the Quick Touch panel, the Phone screen provides access to your features or
call appearance buttons at a glance. You can set the Quick Touch Panel to display one or two
lines, or NOT display any lines "

Jim0523 - Maybe this is the answer to your issue as well ?

You can use the 46xxsettings.txt file to modify how the phone screen displays feature buttons using the following entries. (These include the descriptions below):

## PHNSCRALL specifies whether separate screens will be displayed for call appearances and features.
## Value Operation
## 0 Separate screens will be displayed for call appearances and features (default)
## 1 A consolidated screen will be displayed that includes call appearances and features
## This parameter is supported by:
## 96x1 H.323 R6.0 and later
SET PHNSCRALL 1
------------------------------------------------------------------
##
## FBONCASCREEN specifies whether features will be displayed on the same screen as call appearances
## when the value of PHNSCRALL is 0.
## Value Operation
## 0 Features will not be displayed on the same screen as call appearances (default)
## 1 As many features as will fit will be displayed on the same screen as call appearances,
## in addition to being displayed on a separate feature screen.
## This parameter is supported by:
## 96x1 H.323 R6.0 and later
## 96x0 H.323 R3.0 and later
## SET FBONCASCREEN 1

You will also need to change the screen width on the phone. (Home button > Options & Settings > Screen & Sound Options > Phone Screen Width - Half)

The 46xxsetting.txt file can be manually changed and uploaded using a tftp server or an Avaya utility server.
