Hello

Does anyone know how often the persist.dat file is updated? I'm trying to figure out how often to take a backup of this file.

I don't think it backs up. After you input sites you just do a save. If you add sites and don't hit save and go to relaunch nothing will be there.

File > Save Configuration should save to the persist.dat file correct?

yes.. If you should ever install ASA on another machine you just have to copy that file into the correct folder and you will have all your sites.
