Hello all and happy new year,

Got an Avaya partner system, one main unit and 2 expansion units, 9 incoming lines, 3 per unit.

Line 5 (1st expansion unit, port 2) is not being picked up. Incoming calls don't ring and aren't answered by voicemail. When you hit the Line 5 button on the phone, no dial tone, silence.

Verified that the phone line does indeed have dial tone and is in good working order, all the way up to the port. Disconnected the line from the port and hooked up a plain old house phone, no problems.

So it's either the Avaya port that's bad, or the programming is off.

I have the Avaya manual, but I'm at a loss as to what it might be. Can someone point me in the right direction as to what might be wrong with the programming? I'm not an Avaya expert but I can do troubleshooting.

Thanks in advance.

To eliminate the hardware, swap line 4 and line 5 (assuming line 4 is working). If the problem stays on line 5 then the port is bad and the card needs to be replaced. ~ Mike

Try Intercom 805 instead of pressing the button for Line 5, and also go into programming at a phone, press the Line 5 button, confirm on the screen that it is "L05". Seen systems with oddball lines mapped to buttons, taking the place of what would normally be there. (which is what you will have to do if the button is line 5 and you're dealing with a dead port on the expansion card)
