I am in the process of installing the wiring for an Avaya Partner R6.

I plan on installing all of the cable to a patch panel. Then using patch cables from the patch panel to the Avaya Partner.

I plan on using TIA/EIA-568-B standard on the patch panel as well as the jacks in each office.

Is this the proper configuration? I had an issue with Partner cabling in the past and I do not recall what the issue was. It may have been we used TIA/EIA-568-B on the jacks and the other installer used TIA/EIA-568-A on the patch panel.

Thanks in Advance!

Regular patch cords are all you need.

Using 568-A on one end, and 568-B on the other will make NOTHING work.

Either "A" or "B" will work so long as you stick with the same convention throughout. (I use "B" but to each his/her own).

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

The Partner phones dont care about polarity, as long as T&R is on pins 4&5 and the data pair is on 3&6.

It is still advisable to maintain correct polarity!!!

You never know what future changes or devices may need it!!!

And that can save everybody a lot of time and headaches...

Do it right the first time...

good point Jim , just get in the habit of always doing it right

(Phonedaddy , Im not suggesting you don't do things right I suspect you where just pointing out that polarity isn't a issue with partner )
