WE HAVE INSTALLED A USED PARTNER SYSTEM WITH 2-206E R3.1,1206E 3.0, ACS PRO 3.0, AND PARTNER MAIL VS 5.0.
THE SYSTEM CAME WITH A TWO PORT EXPANSION CARD. WE PURCHASED A USED 4 PORT CARD. THE PROBLEM IS WHEN WE INSTALL THE 4 PORT CARD WE GET THE OLD MESSAGE AND PROGRAM FROM THE PREVIOUS OWNER.

HOW DO WE INSTALL THIS CARD AND ERASE OR REPROGRAM IT FOR OUR USE?

Why did you do a restore from the new 4 port card? Only way that can happen, won't do it by itself. You restored your messaging system with whatever was on that card.

Now you are going to have to reprogram everything and re-record all your menus. Probably better to default the system rather than worry about what may be lurking there.

Oh, when you are done with that make sure you do a backup.

Hal's suggestion to default the Partner Mail VS and start from scratch is the best way to go.

And most definitely, back up the programming.

unless i am misunderstanding the situation, and equipment. put the old 2 port card back in, then do a restore. this should restore the old programming.

then put the new 4 port card in and do a back up to it. some programming changes will be needed to the acs to allow the two additional ports to be accessed by the partner system via group 7. you may also want to default the vm system prior to doing the restore from the old 2 port card. i am not sure if doing the restore from the old card will wipe out all settings in the vm, or not.

i do not think you need to start from scratch when you have the old vm config on the old 2 port card.

i am not that experienced on the vs voicemail solution, but i do think you should be able to pull the old confgiuration off the 2 port card back the the vm. then properly restart the upgrade to the 4 port equipment. noting that the only changes to upgrade to the 4 port card should be made on the phone system, not on the vm. after which you can do a back up to the 4 port card.

aarenot,

You are correct. And like you said make sure you add the 2 other ports to the switch.
