Why would I or when would I need a ASA/DXD PC card? What does it do? I appreciate any help on this.

Thank you,

ASA is Automatic System Answer, it answers after X number of rings, plays up to a 10 second message, places the call on hold, Ext. 10 gets the hold recall reminder

DXD is Direct Extension Dial, it answers after X number of rings, plays up to a 20 seconds message, the caller can dial extension numbers to transfer to, or timeout to Ext. 10 as a transferred call.

Thank U TouchTone, but why would I need this if I have AA or voicemail?

You wouldn't need it if you have voicemail, except if a smart salesman was involved overselling.
