My phone system went down b/c of a bad backup battery. Now the entire system has gone haywire!

I have tried doing a system restore of the internal memory but, that has not solved my issues.

My issues are:
1. When outside call comes in all the lines 1-6 light up and when you answer a line sometimes there is just air, sometimes goes to the operator and sometimes it is actually a person.
2. I have the auto attendant turned off for all six lines but now when an outside call comes in the system lets it ring only twice and says it is now transfering the call to the operator.
3. I need all of the lines to continuously ring with no transfer to operator.

Any help that can be offered for this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

You might need to default the processor by removing the batteries and unplugging the AC power cord.

After a minute or so, power up, replace the batteries and try to reload off of the hard drive.

If things still don't work right, try to reprogram from scratch. If that fails, the processor may be bad and need to be replaced.

Just curious, what software load is the processor running? The latest version is "K". To check on that, press "FEATURE 5 9"

You could purchase a good UPS to keep the system alive during AC power failures.

Lastly, the R7 has a history of strange behavior. I don't know if the newest batches are having problems, but you could use a brand new R6 processor, which has been rock solid since day #1. [smile]

The software load that it is running is 91E. Do you think that if I update to the latest "K" that this will solve the memory loss problems and backup problems that I have been having?

Given the early software release in your processor, I wouldn't bother trying to flash it up to the "K" level.

The two long term options seem to be:

1) Replace with an R6 processor as Skip & I noted earlier.

2) If you want to stay with the 5x9 processor, try to purchase one that has been manufactured very recently. Hopefully Avaya & Celestica have gotten the bugs out of the latest batch of processors.

In either case, a good UPS will more than pay for itself in very short order. [smile]

For the short term, try some of the other steps I mentioned earlier on to see if you can get the processor up & running.

Thank you very much both for your help it has been very insiteful. I will definitely take the steps that you have suggested to resolve the issue.
