Its been so long since I programmed avaya acs auto attendant however ran into snag and don't remember how i did it previously. Auto attendant works perfectly. But want to rotate so auto attendant only works at nite and day doesn't work and i was able to get that working! But the general delivery mail box doesn't answer during the day. Cause lines set to nite only... Any ideas ?

Which version of voicemail? Partner Mail, Partner Mail VS, Partner Messaging, Partner Voice Messaging?

So, in Day Mode, you would like calls to ring and cover to a single mailbox, but in Night Mode you would like calls to be answered by an Automated Attendant?

correct.. in regards to version im not sure. I know its R7. I know its the voicemail one where you do intercom 777, then mailbox 0, then press 9 to get to the auto attendant menu

That's Partner Messaging. Press 7 instead of 9 to hear the release of the Voicemail.

You're not going to be able to make just a mailbox answer in one mode of operation and the auto attendant answer in the other. You can only assign the lines to VMS Line Cover, where an extension's mailbox answers the calls, OR to CallDistGroup 7 where the auto attendant answers the calls.

You CAN control which AA message plays for each mode, AND the number of rings before it answers. In the AA's you can set the Dial-o/Timeout option differently, default for Day is the Call Answer Service Operator (Ext. 10 by default) and Night is the General Mailbox. You could change the Day 0-timeout to the General Mailbox as well.

im still trying to figure out how I had it previously.. but ive tried everything and not making it work. for example previously during the day extension 10 answered calls and extension 41 at nite. im thinking the nite mode button was really set to forward extension 10 calls? i even tried that to 41 and it doesnt pickup the inbound calls and send it to its voicemail. ive even tried turning automatic vms cover off on 10 and just put a button there to turn on or off and turn vms cover on 41 with 10 off and still doesnt pickup..

Maybe you had a DAY auto attendant, with the Dial-0/Timeout set to Mailbox 10, and a NIGHT auto attendant with the Dial-0/Timeout set to mailbox 41

I have a similar problem.
I Inherited a customer with Partner ACS R6.0 and Partner mail VS R4

Customer suffered a power failure and upon power restoration the Partner Mail VS is now DOA.

There was no backup card present in the processor.
I looked through my inventory and I had a few Partner Mail VS R 0's and two Partner Mail VS R 1's.

I installed an R1 and created a greeting, re-initalized 5 mailboxes. (They only have 5 extensions in use)

They have 4 lines, but usually only 1 and sometimes 2 employees working. It is a Towing yard open 365 days, 24 hours.

Apparently the old system would answer the overflow phone calls, and then have the incoming caller in a suspended hold until the 1 or 2 employees could pick up the calls on hold with the AA.

Because there was no backup programming on the ACS R6, and the Partner Mail VS R4 was dead on arrival, I am not sure how to duplicate the AA answering calls and placing them on hold?

I know our good friend Touch Tone Tommy has the answer.

Thank you in advance!

answer the overflow phone calls, and then have the incoming caller in a suspended hold
This sounds like ASA - Auto System Answer. Built into the Partner II and part of a PCMCIA card that could be added to the ACS systems. It answers after X rings with a 10 second message and then places the call on Hold. No ability for the caller to dial anything to direct their call, that was the function of DXD - Direct Extension Dial which answers after X rings with a 20 second message and allows the caller to dial an extension number or timeout to Ext. 10.

Is there a PCMCIA card in the processor other than the Backup/Restore card?

NO PCMCIA card present.

I was thinking ASA as well?

I am not sure how it was working then?

Can I use the DXD programming then?

Thanks TTT

DXD is on the same PC card as ASA. Quick Google search says you can pick one up for around $50

Update: the two Partner Mail VS that I have, that I thought were R 0 are R5.0

Does any one know if the ASA or DXD is included in the R5.0 version without a PCMCIA card?

Because I still cannot comprehend how the previous version R 4.0 was working as an ASA without a PCMCIA card?
