We have this phone system and it came with 2 phones that have the built in caller ID screens. The other 8 phones don't have the caller ID screen so my employees don't know who's calling.

Is it possible to buy one of those caller ID boxes to put on the phone line next to one of the non-caller ID phones?

Will it display who's calling or is that not possible?

You could wire it ahead of the phone system on ONE line, and that will give you CID, but only on that one line.

The phones are inexpensive enough, just replace them!!!

I agree with TTT. Just replace the 18s with 18D's.

The information that shows up on the displays will depend on what your service provider is sending you. You can have them send the originating party's telephone number only, or both name & number. [smile]

I have no problem buying a few 18D's. I just wanted to know if it's possible if I bought one of those cheap little caller ID boxes they sell at radio shack, plugged it into the incoming phone line before the phone, if the caller ID box would display the phone number like my two 18D's do.

Caller ID boxes would need to be wired between the LEC's demarc & the processor and the wiring extended to all desired locations.

Now.....the R8 processor WILL pass Caller ID information to non-system phones/devices.....but I suspect that the processor in question is either an R6 or R7.

It's an R6 processor. I'll have to get a few more 18D's then. Thanks!

The nice thing about the 18Ds is that the Euro II version is still in production. All other Partner hardware is discontinued.

An early run of the 18D Euro II had problems where some of the LCDs pixels eventually failed, so keep that on the back burner.
