Hello all,

Quick question, has anybody played with the new plug in for ip office and MS Lync that has recently been released i was wondering if you call out via the plug in it will display your own DDI from the ip office unit allocated to your extension ?

Hi Jason.

It is very easy.
The plugin connects to the One-X Portal server (status and call actions) and uses your Avaya phone to make and receive calls.
The plugin does do nothing more than that.
It is not a softphone but just a add on.

Brilliant thanks tlpeter so if i have a DDI and i make an outbound call using the plugin the receiving party will see my DDI assigned to me

Also if i am out of the office using lync will this feature still be available ? is it a case of entering a domain name in the server rather than ip for example portal.domainname.com

Yes, if programmed in the IPO.
I think you see the Lync plugin as leading but it is a plugin.
The IPO programming is leading.
The plugin (calling stuff) is controlled by One-X Portal.

You still need a phone.
The call options from Lync server are disabled.
All call option are controlled from the IPO.

So if a VPN was established then it would just work

If you have a phone then yes.
The lync client as standalone no (it is not a phone)

Hi,

Adding to this thread, recently installed Lync on Clients PC and the Avaya Plug in has disabled the Video call ability with lync and calling from the lync contacts, anyone got any knowledge on this?

Thank you

Did you read the docs as it explains why this is done.
So yes this is how it should be as the IPO should take care of this to prevent strange issues.

Ok, thanks for this, so if they were using the video call option previously they can not have this option once the plug in is installed??

Good job i have not installed this yet then

When you need the video call option then yes do not install the plugin :)

Peter (and everyone else for that matter), to enable dialing Lync-Lync and Lync–Avaya, just removed these form the registry:

- HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Communicator\TelephonyMode
- HKEY CURRENT USER\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Communicator\TelephonyMode

Regards
Gunnar

Hi Gunnar, will this enable the video in Lync again?
This is nice :)

I can’t guarantee it for every kind of installation, but for me it works just great after we found the “hack” for enabling Lync calls. I even did an external video conference with a customer yesterday.

Product Manager at Avaya will tell you that it’s not possible, don’t listen to him [bigsmile]

Gunnar

Impossible is on the graveyard next to "i don't want to" :)
They disabled it so there must b a way to enable it again.
I will keep this one in mind.
Have a star.

Have another star. I uninstalled the plugin so I could get lync video back.
