Avaya License Installation Tool

Failed to connect to <xxx> with -javax.comm.NoSuchPortException: COM3

Has anyone experienced this before? LIT does not even seem to attempt to dial

license installation tool is written in java. java is a curious beast, it can do tricks even funnier than that. but first of all, are you sure you have COM3 port? try to use some other serial port, COM1 or COM2.

I have seen it but cannot remember exactly how to solve it.. The License Installation tool needs some java config files to run. Search for the error over the Internet, it is a known issue with java and COM ports. You will find a few sites that will point you to the correct config files and what to change there..

I have uninstalled and then reinstalled the programme; now works OK

yeah like i said, it's java. sometimes you just must perform some shamanic dances around it to get it working...
