Hello All,

We have a customer on IPO SE 11.0.4.6 with 3 expansions and a mix of J179, J129 and 9508. All phones updated their DST except for a large percentage of J129s. The 129s are connecting to Server Prime.

Does anybody know why they do this (besides being a horrible phone) and how to force the new time ? Ideally without having to go into SSA and reboot the phones individually.

I realize the J129s main purpose to be thrown against the wall, but the "consultant" convinced them to get the 129s when Avaya had the CS1K replacement deal for free 129s. Nothing in this world is free in the end.

What is providing the time source for those phones? Fix that.

@nnaarrnn Time source is the server which is using the canadian ntp.

@derfloh, i will take a look at 46xx. My thought is that if it is 46xx, wouldn't the other IP phones (all 179s and a few 129s) have the same issue ? The 179s and a few 129s of the correct time

Check your 46xxsettings file under # J129AUTOGENERATEDSETTINGS for the following options. J129 take the auto time settings manually all other J phones takes the time directly of the system.

SET GMTOFFSET +2:00
SET SNTPSRVR ""
SET DSTOFFSET 1
SET DAYLIGHT_SAVING_SETTING_MODE 2
SET DSTSTART LSunMar1L
SET DSTSTOP LSunOct1L

If you change the time on the system, the J100 phones do not update immediately like the Digital or H323 phones. There is a Sync Interval timer, and it is set by default to something ridiculous like 1440 MINUTES!

You can add a 46xxSpecials.txt entry to lower the time:

If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH'.
The paint wouldn't even have time to dry.”

Thanks Everyone,

The xx files will be to blame. I am going to check them out on Monday.

Update Post

46xx had the proper DST settings
Firmware of the phones all match
SYNC interval is not the problem as its been a week.

We still have phones without the proper time. Looks like I am stuck rebooting all the 129s.

Yes you would need to reboot the phone for it to grab the file to get the changes you made. Until you reboot your phone will never grab that settings file(again).

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.
