hi everybody,

i'm having an issue getting the b169 to work with avaya IPOSE.

the b169 is connected through ip dect base. i managed to access the dect base and configure the server and extension and register the handset to the base and assign the extension. from ipose, user is created and extension is created as sip.

whenever the unit try to register for the sip extension i'm getting 403 forbidden as a reply from the ipose.

can someone help in this

Guessing based on what you provided is SIP registrar enabled?

Beyond that need more information. What version are you running? What kind of extension did you create? When you try to login which password are you using(user password, login code, something else)?

The more information you provide the more likely you are to get assistance.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

after going through the documents and support site for avaya this is what i found

the B169 used to work using 3rd party license rather than avaya ip endpoint license
this issue was solved by software upgrade so it requires the below

Dect base firmware minimum must be 450B7
in addition to that your ip office must be v 11 FP4 SP1

i hope this would be helpful for others

Sorry was thinking about the B179.

It's important to mention that you are using the IP DECT SC (Single Cell) base and not the regular IP DECT R4 base as by just saying IP DECT people usually assume the later.

Welcome all to a world of confusion.

- The B169 conference phone now comes in two flavours: DECT connection to an analog base station or DECT connection to a SIP base station.

- The DECT B169 is sufficiently new that you need it running the right version of firmware and talking to the right version of IP Office for it to be correctly recognised as an IP Office supported Avaya phone rather than as a 3rd-party IP phone.

I had one on my test rig. Build quality is fantastic as usual for the re-branded Knoftel phones. The phone unit charges from a baseplate, from which it can be picked up and taken to where you need it so long as its in DECT range, which is very nice but I can see being a headache from some sites.

Also, if the base station is already up and running, the new B169 out of the box recognises it and asks to connect which is nice simple install.

The base station UI is a bit confusing a first, because its too flexible. It can handle multiple B169s and multiple PBX connections and seems to promise every variant of one-to-many, many-to-one and many-to-many that you could dream of. I was glad I was only setting up one B169 for one IP Office.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Hi Everyone,

new issue regarding the same subject, has anyone upgraded the DECT SC firmware from 450B4 to 450B7.

as per the documents you should change the filename to upgrade.fwu
copy it to the root directory of a SD card
insert the SD card to the B169 while turned off
power it on
go to settings .. upgrade mode .. DECT

the result i'm getting is file not found.

has anyone faced this issue

it might be case sensitive. Did you use the correct case ?
never dealt with it so just spitballing

update:

i managed to upgrade the firmware of the DECT SC to 0450B7 using TFTP as mentioned in the link provided by @critchey. now the issue is that we are back to point 0 were i'm unable to get it to register with the IPO SE. i'm getting 403 forbidden.

anyone can help with this

Use the extension number as username, the user login code as password and the IPO SIP Domain as Domain. If you didn't set up a domain use the IPO IP address as Domain.

IP Office remote service Fixed price SIP trunk configuration: CLI based cale blocking: SCN fallback over PSTN:

update:

finally i got it working.

in the DECT SC, when you add a server you need to consider the following.

Registrar is the domain (domain.com)
Primary Proxy is the FQDN of the IP Office (ipo.domain.com)

when you add the extension

user the ext. no. as the authentication id

as for upgrading the DECT SC using the TFTP consider the below

i used solarwinds TFTP Server software
in the Root-TFTP directory
create a folder and name it 9430
rename the fwu file to be 9430_v0450.fwu
and in the DECT SC go to firmware update and enter the below
firmware server address: TFTP Server IP Add.
firmware path:
required version 0450

i hope this will be helpful
