Hey all,
I am very new to Avaya pbx product, could you pls let me know some very basic info for IPO IP500?
I intend to use it as backup system in an office with 150 analog phones, and 15 1FLs trunk

- what is capacity of one IP500 box? I guess it can be stacked, correct?
- what is the latest release for IP500? is it Release 11?
- I guess there must be one or more servers (like database server? or maintenance console) to work with IP500 box, if server is down, is analog phone and 1FL trunk still functioning on IP500 box?
- is there any end-of-life notice for IP500?
- can you share me useful web link on Avaya website? I have to say I hate its website, it always not easy to find info on it.

appreciate.

Hi Zhulin211. I guess what Intrigrant is trying to say is that your questions probably require a meeting with an Avaya Business Partner. Not to drive you away, but this is a technical forum and these are very elemental questions.

I would also highly recommend engaging an Avaya Business Partner to make ensure you get the most out of your system.
If you do not have a current Avaya Business Partner, please use the partner locator at
Please also allow me to include a link to the online knowledge base where you can access user guides and quick reference guides for Avaya's products, free at any time:

- what is capacity of one IP500 box? I guess it can be stacked, correct?
Solution capacities can be found in the R11 IP Office offer definition on sales.avaya.com

- what is the latest release for IP500? is it Release 11?
Correct R11.0 was released in May.

- I guess there must be one or more servers (like database server? or maintenance console) to work with IP500 box, if server is down, is analog phone and 1FL trunk still functioning on IP500 box?
Please view the IP Office Offer Definition for PFT capacities (I think it is one or four- never used them). Also the IP office Solution Description and the IP Office Resiliency manual available on support.avaya.com
Here you will find information on PFT (Power fail telephone)

- is there any end-of-life notice for IP500?
No there is not. Any EOL statement would be issued as a Product Support Notice. Avaya typically provides at least 12 months on a End of Sale notice up to 6 years on an end of life notice.

You can subscribe to receive any notifications yourself:
To obtain the latest update notifications from Avaya,

Go to Login to the portal
At the bottom of the page there is a menu area
Select the “Set E-Notifications” under the Alerts & Reports
Once in the E-Notification portal use the Product Notification section to select ‘IP Office’ and the specific topics you would like to receive information from. Based on our conversation there are three key ones: (1) Product Support Notices (PSN), (2) Product Correction Notices (PCN), and (3) Security Advisories. You can select all of them or only those that you feel are relevant.

Worth knowing that under the support.avaya.com portal you can go directly to any product and download this specific information at any time you’d like. Each product has a Product Documentation section where you can select PCN, PSN, user guides, etc. Anything that is relevant right now would be there today.

Don't hate what you fear grasshopper. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. hate leads to the dark side of the force. Sure, you get a cool mask...but pain, misery...despair. These traps await those who hate.

A madman with a taste for speed.

Actually the "IP500" went end of sale in 2012 and is now totally end of support (9th January 2018).

Fortunately everyone else above has been kind enough to assume that you meant "IP500 V2" - but it will help you enquiries if you use the correct product name.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

That is a rather Pedantic Answer Sizbut, to carry on in the same vein I would point out that the op said IP500 SERVIES which includes both the IP500 & the IP500V2 :)

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

Really. In a World Cup theme, the score for the original post is:

- "IP500" 7, "IP500 SERVIES" 0

That's not pedantic, it's simple fact.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

I think he meant the thread title. Either way some clarity on the original question would have been helpful!

ACSS (SME)

Still 6 nil even on that score and there will be no VAR.

@zhulin211

Search for information on "IP Office" will get your further than "IP500" (despite having to ignore the many hits on the 'Intellectual Property Offices' of various countries).

"IP500" is just one of the platforms on which "IP Office" has been run. "IP Office" these days runs on a range of different platforms (IP500 V2, Linux PCs, virtualized Linux servers, cloud services) and in a number of different modes (Basic, Essential, Advanced, Server Edition, Select, Cloud).

And to your questions, taking 'IP500 box' to be an 'IP500 V2 box':

- what is capacity of one IP500 box? I guess it can be stacked, correct?
[One IP500 V2 box - ignoring IP/digital extension and trunks - 32 analog extensions, 16 analog trunks or 32 BRI channels or 204 PRI channels. There will be compromises between trunks and extensions, depends on what you actually need]
[It can be stacked with IP500 Expansion modules - to give up to 384 extension, 204 analog trunks, 32 BRI channels, 204 PRI channels. Again there will have to be compromises between trunk and extensions, depends what you actually need]

- what is the latest release for IP500? is it Release 11? [Yes.]

- I guess there must be one or more servers (like database server? or maintenance console) to work with IP500 box
[Its all in one unless you want Voicemail Pro voicemail server or one-X Portal application server which run on separate PCs.]
[Highly recommended to have a Windows PC on which to run some apps in order to manage the system but they don't need to be running all the time.]

- if server is down, is analog phone and 1FL trunk still functioning on IP500 box?
[If 1FL is an analog trunk then there is some capacity to connect a few analog phones directly to analog trunks. Only a few, not all.]

- is there any end-of-life notice for IP500?
[Not yet, but it is now an old product and most of the development is going into versions of IP Office that run on other platforms.]

- can you share me useful web link on Avaya website? I have to say I hate its website, it always not easy to find info on it.
[Welcome to Avaya - sorry. Visit support.avaya.com. Select Documents and enter IP Office as the product. You don't need to login. Look for the "Deploying IP Office Essential Edition" manual. This one .]

thanks to all!
I really appreciate your information!
