We have several customers that complain IPO500 system (running on R5/R6) with poor voice quality; no matter on local LAN with IP phoneset, or intra-network for remote offices.
We tried to check with system status and network, but no packet drop or abnormal network broadcasting message... It may temporary resume back to normal after system reboot.
Please state if there is any idea or hints how to fix it, thx a lot!!

just do what Matt said. split the voice and data between LAN1 and LAN2 and generally all your voice quality issues go away.

if its not a big site, just leave it that way, especially if the customer isnt interested in making it work with you. issue is, the internet and other data services will always come 1st over voice, however voice is always the first thing that gets moaned about, as its always noticed when it drops packets.

Voice is much more important in a network.
That is why QOS is so important.
Voice is like television.
When you watch you see it but when you don't it is gone and won't comeback (udp)
Data always has a check if it is received or not.
When it is not received it is send again (tcp)

For voice that check can not be done because you will get too much delay.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!
