Hi All

Puzzling issue here, we are moving IP Phones from an Adtran switch to a cisco 3750, the two switches are configured the same but when the IP Phones are connected to the cisco switch they sit trying to discover the IPO. but they work perfectly when connected to the Adtran switch. Now obviously this is an issue with the cisco switch but as they are configured exactly the same just thought i'd check if anyone else has experienced this?!?!

The ports are configued as 100 meg full duplex on both switches...Cisco has ports 2-9 VLANed for Voice on VLAN 10. We will not be plugging a computer into it.

Thanks.

Google gives 3.470 hits after 0.31 seconds on the search string "app note avaya cisco 3750"
So try that path first and come back if there remains a problem[thumbsup2]

reverted from RTFM to Google hits Int?????? lol

I had an issue a few years back getting Ericsson BP250 IP phones working on Cisco LAN switches. I have no idea what the network tech did, but it was down to the negotiation/handshake phase of the switch. It was trying to be too clever the the Ericsson phone just got bored of waiting for San Francisco to figure out what was plugged in. I think he just turned off som eof the Cisco "cleverness"!!!!

Is there a default gateway configured on the VLAN?
Can you ping the IPO?

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Yes there is a gateway of 10.10.20.1, and I can ping it from Vmail Pro server and through system status. I can also ping the IPO from VMail Pro server, and I can even ping through system status to a phone with a static address.

Recently I installed a site with 120 IP Phones and they deployed their own Cisco PoE network.
I had the same problems as you have, the only difference maybe that I told them it is a network issue and prove it with two HP switches with the same config as the Cisco in respect to VLANs and PoE. So I siad "It is your party and I'll be back when you solved it".
It took them nearly a week to get it fixed and I went back to finish the install.
Then I had a problem with tha Patton M-ATAs, these worked only if attached to the 2nd LAN port on a IP Phone and not straight to the Cisco switch, I took my HPs from the car and showed them the Pattons worked nice on them so they made a study of it an two days later it worked.
I really doý know what they have done and actually I don't want to know, the only thing I know for sure : we will never ever deploy a Cisco network ourselfs, I'll stick to my HP switches, setup within the hour and never a failure, nice.

Thanks everyone for all your post, we were able to get with the Cisco folks and have them make some changes including turning off IP fix up along with some other things on the Cisco side and everything is up and running now.

Boom...another one bites the dust :) What did they change in the "along with some other things on the Cisco side" category? It will be very helpful for others that use this site and get the same issue.... and it will help us pass it along and get cheap stars :)

"No problem monkey socks

I will have to get with there Cisco guys, to provide a good answer. i believe there was something in the vlan that was not setup properly.
