Anyone had this problem pop up on your radar all of a sudden?
My phones all of a sudden started displaying backup failed messages that flash at the top of the screen
every so often. I am using a Avaya Aura CM 6.0.

I remember having this problem before, but not quite sure what cleared the problem. It could have
been a reboot of the CM server, maybe clearing some sort of cache, but I am not sure.

Can anyone help me with where to go to check the source of this error message. No other message is displayed.

BTW, I tried doing a Manual Backup on my phone to test, and it fails as well.

Thank you.

first be sure that you have in settigs the folder phonebackup in your HTTP server
set BRURI:http//xx.xx.xx.xx/phonebackup, with set AUTH 0, BRAUTH 0, RESTORE 1.
MV-IPTEL.ini:
use SNMP 0
params=/usr/bin/snmpget
SNMPPARAMS=-V2C-mall-cpublic
MV_IPTEL SETUP
uncheck "use SNMP for FTP store/retrieve verification"
and restart MV-IPTEL.

Hi,
Where do I find or access these files? Do I have to login to root on the linux server? Or is there some other method? Thanks.

If you have a Utility Server it's usually setup to handle backups on port 81, you just need to make sure the BRURI in 46xxsettings is setup correct.

Thanks Janni78. Forgive my ignorance. I'm managing an Avaya switch that was installed last year, and got a crash course on how to manage it. Practically, I have a huge Swiss Army knife and don't know how to use all it's components. I really don't know if I have a utility server or not. Is there a way to find out through the Avaya system somewhere? Thanks again.

If you use a internet browser on the same IP as the phones get their firmware on you should see if it's an Utility Server.

If you are rediscovering how a system is set up, you can check the DHCP Option 242 that for the HTTPSRVR= field. 9600 series phones check this option for their initial settings.

You can also look at the phone itself by entering the maintenance menu:

On a working, logged in phone press [MUTE] and enter 27238# (spells CRAFT#) You should see a list of options starting with 802.1X...[/li]
Select ADDR and scroll down until you see HTTPS Server or HTTP Server. That should be the address of your backup server.[/li]
You can then use your PC and browser and look at the files there to at least confirm it's up and running.[/li]

The backup server could be the Utility Server or it could be a stand alone web server.

You should find a lot of files for phone firmware and probably a folder for the backup files. These are just a few of the files you should see.
96x1Hupgrade.txt - Tells the phone what firmware to download
46xxsettings.txt - System Settings for all phones

Firmware files are similar to S9608_11HALBR6_6_0_29_V474.tar

Phone Backups files are named [extension]_96xxdata.txt and the date of the file will be the last successful backup.

Web servers can lock up sometimes and it could be as simple as stopping and restarting the http service. That will depend on the type of server you have.

I hope this helps point you in the right direction.

Appreciate everyone's response. I discovered that my VoIP telephone DHCP server is the HTTP Server.
The configurations that TELECOMSONATRACH told me to check match with the exception of: params=/usr/bin/snmpget which on my server is set for params=-v2c-cpublic.
Also, I could not find MV_IPTEL SETUP to uncheck "Use SNMP for FTP store/retrieve verification".

I did restart MV-IPTEL service. It still did not correct the problem.

ZeroZeroOne, your instructions were very helpful in finding the folders. Apparently the last time any VoIP phone did backups was on 9/11/2015. Not all phones backed up
on the same date. Some have older days.

I have to add that I can ping the router gateway, and the IP phone address from my desktop, but not the server itself. I can ping the server from within itself, and the other
two ip addresses.
