Hi Guys

I know people have asked this question before but I’m really stuck.

I have a client who has an old lucent index phone system and wants to replace the system with an Avaya IP Office V2.

The customer current system servers all users and also rents office out and provides them with a Phone extension

Customer office extension range starts from 200 – 290

Rented Offices Extension range start from 600 – 700

The customer would like the following

1. Block Extension range 200 to call 600 and vice versa.
2. Hide extension range 600 from the directory which I know can be done via Ex-directory
3. Extension Range 200 will Not be Ex-directory as they would like to see all 200 range in the list but Block 600 range to call from the contacts directory.

Hope somebody can help

Many thanks

Prash

The IP Office does not support tenanting and it can't be emulated or cheated. Best solution would be a system that does support tenanting or linking 2 IP Offices together, then you can do this :)

wow this cust should go with communication manager as they have tennant partitioning etc.. do not think you can block 2oo exts from calling 500 range extensions, so cm would be a better option for this customer

You block them from calling each other with User Rights short codes and User short codes just like you can block a user from dialing 9N or a specific number or area code.

Perhaps the 2 above me should think before they speak or go back to IPO 101. I set up 2 extensions, x300 and x400. In x300 I created a user short code of 4XX Barred. Below is the SSA output from x300 when dialing x400. And that's why I have all those qualifications!

Common guys!!! amriddle01 and hairlessupportmonkey...respond, you started this.
The certification guru backed up his talk with evidence and you guys go silent.
I am rooting for you guys...hoping you come back.

Apparently the junior level techs commenting above didn't know that a user short code can pretty much override anything. Multi-tenant IPO not perfect.....but it works.

Not really sure how you managed to make that work.
User short codes do not over-ride extensions. I just did it on my system and whaddyaknow...the call went through.
For a test, I made an extension 1999, and barred 19XX. Call went through, as it was a valid extension.
I dialed 1955, call was barred. It matches extensions first. My guess is that the extension 400 was not created, so it did not see it on the system, thus, barred it.

I've actually written up a work around for this and it works quite elegantly using vmpro. I guess no one cared though.

There are several ways to do it with SC's and digit manipulation. At customer site tomorrow but I will post SSA and screen shots on Friday when back in office and access to lab IPO.

hbsurfn, or you found a bug or Avaya changed it without documenting it.
It was never possible and can only be done with do not disturb tricks.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Hi Guys

Thanks all for the quick responses.

This is what I've managed to do block extension 6xx calling 2XX

1. Changed the dial delay time to 1 Sec
2. Added Code. 2N
Feature. Barred
Telephone Number. .
Line Group Id. 0

The above works only when I Dial the extension 2XX which is great but doesn't work when called from the contact list.

Is their a way of blocking access to the system directory

Many thanks

Prash

IPO matches dialed numbers with the following priority's

1 Internal Extn Numbers(users & groups)
2 personal short codes
3 system short codes

so internal Extns should always match

one possible hack would be to reduce the dial digit cont & set a user short code of 4N busy, but that would break the ability to dial without an access code.
this is not an approach I would recommend to anyone (and have not even bothered to test)

I have only been working with the product since alchemy V2.1 so I guess I am still only a Junior Tech.

Here is one way. I will try to post screen shots tomorrow. I have 2 digital extensions, 2 users. x300 (test1) and x400 (test2). Create a dummy ARS table and leave it blank. (53:TEST) Add a user short code of 4N/Dial/N/53:TEST to x300. Add a user short code 3N/Dial/N/53:TEST to x400. Below is output of x300 calling x400, then x400 calling x300.

Just tested on V9.0.3 & still working as described above, I can call Extn 207 despite SC 2XX feature Bared in my user short-code list.

I guess IPO101 has not changed since the late 1990's

I would like to know how you obtained that trace it must be from a very buggy release (& one I cant remember)

Release 9.0.2.0 build 860. The dummy ARS table method works just fine.
