My Receptionist says when the User is on their line, she cannot transfer to voicemail. Apparently, it works fine otherwise. We're an NEC shop, but support this remote Avaya system as well. I'm digging in, but if anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate it. It's happening to all tested thus far.

The Receptionist takes the call, and Blind Transfers to a pre-programmed 1touch button. This is happening to numbers/Users that have been in place for years.

With my NEC, I'd look at the ACFS command, but see nothing comparable in the Avaya.

Thanks,
Bill

6.1 Transfer to Voicemail
When set to visual voice mode, the key can be used to transfer your current call to the voicemail mailbox of another
user or group.
1.With the call connected, press the key. You are still connected to the call and can continue talking.
2.Dial the extension number of the user or group to which you want to transfer the call.
3.When the number matches a user or group, their name is displayed.
· To transfer the call to the user or group's mailbox, press the Select soft key. The caller will hear a few
seconds of ringing and then the mailbox greeting.
· To exit the transfer menu, press the Exit soft key.

Now, Visual voice is dependent on the handset supporting it.
I'm guessing it's not supported on your handsets. You probably have 56XX or 54XX series handsets for a 3.2 system. Solid handsets.

In this case your button programming likely is

Label: Voicemail Leave Bill Bloggs
Action: Voicemail Collect
Action Data: #709 (where 709 is the extension number).

have you set up a direct transfer to voicemail short code, seems this would work for you, she would hit transfer followed by the # sign, then extension number followed by transfer again of hang up the phone. This will transfer directly into the users mailbox

Thanks guys. I appreciate the feedback. I have an Avaya tech scheduled to stop by. We'll get this figured out. It's probably something minor, as they've been using the system for years. Strikes me as User error, or something I'm overlooking as the Admin (I use that term loosely in this case).

Thanks

Possible cause:
User have VM disabled
User have a divert on busy to a unknown or no number set
User have unconditionally forward enabled without a number
User name has changed and have illegal chars in the name
Embedded VM disk full, use system status to check
