Hi,

Been trying to configure a trunk between Avaya IP Office 5 and Cisco Call Manager Express 7, both share a common network, hence have IPs within same subnet on specific interfaces.

Can anyone please help with sample working configs to get this up please? I have been on this for quite a while now (2 weeks so far) and the best I could come up with today was placing a call from the Avaya IPO to the CCME but the call got dropped after it was picked up at the other end.

I am not conversant with the Avaya system, neither am I really good with setting up IP Voice trunks on a CCME, though I have more of a Cisco background in networking.

Any help will be greatly appreciate please as i intend to start from scratch.

Regards,

Femi

Not exactly what you need but could still help:

:)

Hi,

Thanks for both files, already have them though. The problem now is that there is no sample config for my exact scenario, IPO and CME.
I made some progress though. I setup the H323 config on the CME and I can make calls to phones controlled by the IPO from the CME phones. However, when the phone rings and it is picked up, neither the called or caller can hear the other, then the call cuts off after approximately 30 secs.

Any suggestions?

Femi

That sounds like routing issues.
Although they are both on the same subnet i would try using routes for the voice.
The 30 secs disconnect means that the IPO does not know where to send backthe voice and then disconnects.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Hmmm, thats odd...

"...i would try using routes for the voice" >>> how do you reckon I do this? Will this be on the IPO or CME?

"The 30 secs disconnect means that the IPO does not know where to send backthe voice and then disconnects" >>> so what do you reckon I do to resolve this?

Regards,

Femi

Hi Sean,

I was outta the office on Friday, baby and wife needed some helping hand. Will be back at the office tomorrow and will try out your suggetions as regards our emails. You didn't get back to me though as regards my CME config and also how to resolve the 10 sec dropped call issue.

Will keep you posted and run an update to you tomorrow.

Femi

we did this for a customer. That had ipo in uk and CME in China.
We had to add ip routes for 3 ip address's of the CME.

If we only did the main ip route it would call but no voice. add the others and job done. May be a completely different set up for you though. That or the people in China set the CME up wrong when we did it.

If only my girlfriend was as usefull as tek-tips

Hi,

Where did you add the ip routes (though sounds like on the IPO) and why 3 ip addresses?

Hi all,

So we made the following changes on the IPO and voila, calls get through either way and we could hear each other clearly:
- a default route of 0.0.0.0 / 0.0.0.0 / <gateway> / LAN 1 was added
- Codec set to AUTOMATIC

And below is the config I have on my CME:

Thats the same IP route you would use if setting up 2 systems in SCN on same subnet.

thats the IP route you would add to route ALL traffic regardless of the subnet. the router would then take care of any routing.....
