I am having trouble with the outgoing fax machines sending faxes to extensions which have the same first digits as the fax number being dialed. I have tried everything I could think of and read about this issue and using short codes to correct it, but nothing has resolved the issue.

Example:
Fax Number: 3036xxxxxx
Extension Ranges 3010 to 3036
A fax is sent dialing 3036xxxxxx and is atomatically directed to extension 3036.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards,

Kevin

This happens because IPO first checks internal numbers before applying a shortcode.
Try changing the "dial digit count" on the system>telephony tab and give it the value "1".

dont set dial delay count to 1 or you will just increase the problems
Dial delay count needs to be at least 1 greater then the longest internal number dialed, in your case I would set it to 5 or maby even 6 just for added security

Thanks for your help intrigrant and IPGuru. That seems to have resolved my outgoing fax issues.

After further use, changing the dial delay count to 6 has caused our system to loose it's secondary dial-tone when dialing 9 for an outside line. Would there be another way to resolve this or a different short code to use to gain access to dialing extensions and receiving a dial-tone?
