Hello.
We need to configure below equipment for testing purpose:
- n. 1 Avaya IP Office 500
- n. 1 Cisco switch 500 24 ports PoE + 2 ports GbEth
- n. 20 Avaya IP Phone 1608
So, we'll be create below VLAN:
- Default (Native)
- Cisco-Guest (VLAN 3)
- Cisco-Voice (VLAN 4)

We'll be set ports 1-24 with SmartPort configuration:
- role: Desktop + IP Phone
- VLAN: Data --> Default & Voice --> Cisco-Voice

We'll try to connect some Avaya IP Phone 1608:
- PoE supply is working well
- Avaya phone searching for DHCP Server (IP address: 192.168.42.1 on IP Office 500) ---> LAN 192.168.42.x , but not discovered..

I thinking is about IP Office misconfiguration (Voice VLAN address,etc...)
I'm not an expert, of course...and i need help form someone expert !!
Can someone share a similar configuration ?

thanks in advance
Mario

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

Thank you Matt.
Cisco Catalyst Express 500 Series switches deliver best-in-class networking that is designed to meet the needs of growing businesses with up to 250 employees.
This family of Layer 2-managed Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet switches offers non-blocking, wire-speed performance and provides a secure network foundation optimized for data, wireless, and IP Communications.
The Cisco Catalyst Express 500 also offers options for Power over Ethernet (PoE) to help reduce the cost and complexity of IP Communications and enable new uses for the Ethernet network.

...so any suggestion ??
Currently we using below Netgear switch 8 ports:
Switch ProSafe® Fast Ethernet PoE 8 Porte / model FS108P
- 4 ports PoE standard IEEE 802.3af
- 8 porte 10/100 Mbps with AutoUplink
...and all working well without configuration !!

thanks to all.

Is the IPO on an untagged voice vlan port?
Are the phones on a tagged voice vlan port?
What is providing DHCP to the phones and how do they get there vlan info?

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

So how do you intend to do your intervlan routing?

@tlpeter
Is the IPO on an untagged voice vlan port? --> we'll be configure Cisco port both VLAN (data & voice)
Are the phones on a tagged voice vlan port? --> ip phones are tagged voice vlan ports
What is providing DHCP to the phones and how do they get there vlan info? Avaya IP Office providing DCHP service to the phones ..

many thanks

Configure an untagged voice vlan on the port. nothing else.

Are the phones on a tagged voice vlan port? --> ip phones are tagged voice vlan ports
That is good.

What is providing DHCP to the phones and how do they get there vlan info? Avaya IP Office providing DCHP service to the phones ..
The phone do start in the data vlan so they should get an option 242 from there so that they know there vlan info.
Configure an option 242 with L2Q=1, L2QVLAN=4
Only then it will start working.
