We have a Avaya IP 500 in out office, and we had a tech in to fix some issues, one of the things they did was reset the Administrator and Security password. We think we have the right ones now (don't think we had the right one from the start though). But we get Third Attempt failed, and whatever password we do enter it just says access denied.

My question is, does anyone know how this third attempt business work. Can I reset the counter somehow. Tried restarting the system (power cable fell out) but it is still telling me "Access denied"

Got the Security password and the Administrator passwords, pretty certain the security one is the correct one, think the admin is wrong.

Any suggestions avoiding having to connect a serial port would be greatly appreciated.

Call the company who send the tech and ask for your own credentials.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

How many password attempts are allowed in any 10 minute period and the action that the system should perform when that is exceeded are all set in the system's security configuration. The default is to lock the account for 10 minutes after 3 unsuccessful attempts. But is can also be set to disable the account.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.
