Avaya IP 46XX and 9630 phones will not register

I have a S8500 and i use Avaya IP phones (46XX and 9600) but I have to manually insert the IP address into each phone. I would like to know how I can get these phones to register on their own. Any ideas?

Use dhcp and then you need to make options 176 for the 46xx and 242 for the 96xx

Use this string for the 176

MCIPADD=192.168.16.10,MCPORT=1719,TFTPSRVR=192.168.16.1

For the 96xx you need http for the file server instead of tftp so the string for option 242 is

MCIPADD=192.168.16.10,MCPORT=1719,HTTPSRVR=192.168.16.1

tlpeter: Thanks for the information. I am testing today. Question: Regarding your example: The TFTPServer and HTTP Server is the same CLAN card? Or should it be the IP of the PMI?

I do not know what you mean with PMI but normaly a separate server is setup for MV_Iptel to prvide tftp and http for the phones

Ia m not sure but i think the S8500 can have 300 phones for tftp and http
