Avaya G3si V6 international Calling (Canada to be exact)

As stated in previous posts I have been thrown into this position with zero documentation on this system. Users are attempting to call numbers located in Canada. We have to dial 9 to reach an outside line then they dial the number 1-819-849-XXXX, and receive and error tone. If they dial a known cell number in the same area code 1-819-570-XXXX an operator comes on say you do not need to dial 0 after the country code when dialing this country. even though the user did not dial 0 so it must be getting added in somewhere just not sure where.

I have checked his COR and that has a FRL of 7.

Not really sure what else to check and what else to do. I have attempt to do some commands that were suggested in other posts but they don't work. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
 
You're in the USA? Either way, Canada and USA are both country code 1. So your users would normally dial 9-1-819-XXX-YYYY
Your route pattern seems to be deleting 3 digits, so 9-819-XXX-YYYY matches 819 in ARS, goes to route 6, deletes 3 digits, so you're left with XXX-YYYY to route.
Maybe on the right hand side in the route pattern is digits to be inserted - like 1-819...

Otherwise, was it ever working?

You can "list trace station 1234" if extn 1234 is trying to place that call, or list trunk, find the trunk access code of trunk group 3 (TAC), and list trace tac xxx to see what really goes out on the trunk. But otherwise, calling Canada from the US is the same as any long distance, and you're likely inserting a 0 (perhaps in your route pattern...) if you're getting that type of operator intercept. Further, a station trace will show you what digits you match in ARS, which route you take, which trunk is selected and what digits are sent on that trunk to help you figure out what's going on. A paste of that in here would likely get some good opinions on what you've got going wrong.
 
Yes sorry about that I am in the United States. Under Route Pattern 6 Inserted Digits is blank. As far as it ever working I am not sure this is the first time I have been called saying that it doesn't work. I know other people have no problem calling other countries (poland germany and spain).

I have tried "the list trace station 1234" with my extension and the command fails. I get "station" is an invalid entry; please press HELP if I press help I get the following choices : advocate, vdn, previous, ewt, vector. I have tried every one of those options and none of them display what I have seen other able to post.

 
by "1234" I meant the extension of whatever phone you would use to place the test call :)

But yeah, do a list trace station and see what is being sent out.

We can both agree that the only thing you need to pitch out to the trunk is 11 digits and it shouldn't be that complicated a setup.

When I list trunk ... group no 3 TAC is 703 Group type : isdn Group Name is SDN
 
so "list trace tac 703", and that will open a live trace of that trunk. Place your call and you'll see what goes on the trunk

Dang - do you have any other logins for the system - you'd need maintenance permissions on your login to be able to do a list trace station.

What about list ars route-chosen 1-819-849-0000? that would show what the system would do if you dialed that. But a live station trace is always nicer to see what's happening now.

it isn't really lining all up but it says fnpa and I can't tell if it is supposed to be under max or route pat.

To my knowledge the login I am using should have full privileges. But I will double check and see if there are any other logins.
 
did you run that command as "list ars route-chosen 1819" or "18198490000" - it can give different results, and it should give a route. If it gives a partition, do a "list partition" and paste that... it can be an additional layer of complexity.
 
I did "list ars route-chosen 18198490000" Unfortunately I will have to give you the list partition another time. I got called out on another job. Thank you for your help though and I will update as soon as possible.
 
When I do a "list partition-group" it comes back with COR numbers and all 1's.

Yeah, so is that all under the column of "PGN1"? Basically, partition based routing is just a way to have different departments use different trunks for the same dialed digits, and depending who installed your system, may have considered it a best practice. It makes adding another partition easy without hacking up the dial plan, but it needlessly complicates stuff if you'll never have another partition.

That all said, is that referring to route pattern 1? This is a relatively simple problem and all 819.418.450,438,514 should be treated the same by your system and why you're getting bothered about the "dialing 0 country code" business is puzzling.

It might be better if you pasted the whole screen from your terminal - unless you're stuck at a real VT100 in the PBX room and you're just jotting down notes and relaying them here. If so, poor you.
