A customer needs me to take out their Avaya G350 Media Gateway. So they can resell it. Is there any special shut down procedures needed to preserve any data, etc? Or can I just unplug it and box it up?

Thank you

You need the definity forum.
But i think the licenses are attached to the serial of the G350 so selling it would not be an option.
But ask on the definity forum to be sure

Use a ? to see where you are and what you can do.
Probably a "dave trans all" can be done straight away when you are logged in with ASA.

Guys I am scheduled to remove this system 01-27-2010 at 3:00 P.M. Pacific time. Will there be any problems if I just unplug system and remove everything? like I would do with a normal phone system? Thank you for your help.

Normally these systems do a full backup on Sundays, so if no changes were made to the system after Sunday you could unplug the system (as if it were a power failure) and all the data should be ok. First check to see if the backup media if a flash drive, if not you would need to log into asa and do a full backup to a ftp site/pc just to be safe. All license fils are store in nv ram on the processor so only station, trunk ect. info would be lost.

If there is a S8300 in it then go to the webpage and give it a shutdown (delayed)
But if you need to resell it then it needs a reinstall anyway so you can just unplug it.

Just pull the plug, there is a scheduled maintenance that saves translations every night. Besides if you have the logon name/password for the G350 and the S8300, who ever you sell it to should know what to do with it.

Why bother to save the database if you want to sell the hardware, just unplug it and sell it.

im guessing you dont have any working knowledge of CM or ASA or have any passwords so if the site is a standalone there will be an S8300 server. you can simply press and hold the red shutdown button unitl the light starts to flash. once it goes solid at the "Ok to Remove" you can power down by pulling the plug. this will ensure Audix shuts down smoothly. if there is no 8300 just pull the plug.... but as everyone else said, who cares if its going out and its done with. Good luck.

I went there today, saw a little shut down button that looked like it needed to be pressed with a tooth pick.
I tried to press it with a small screwdriver. Nothing appeared to happen. I unplugged it and told customer sell the instruments, and maybe the switch.

Thanks Guys/Gals for all the input, although I wish I knew what some (if not all) of you were talking about.
