Hi

I have installed an IP office and am using the Avaya Application server as its File server. Everything is on the latest version. This seemed to be working ok but had a couple of issues with certain phones having some call quality issues. when the phones boot up they go and get there files from there server and seem to do an update. I have changed the file server to be the IP office as a test and the phones have now done a big upgrade and fixed all the problems I had. Has anyone had any issues using the Avaya Application server running Linux as a file server? All the files are the same on the SD card in the phone system and on the file server. I have read somewhere that you can only use the IP office for 50 handsets and I have 70 installed on site.

Cheers

How did you enable the Linux server as file server?
This should work fine.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

I went in to the command line and changed it so that you can use the root login then configured a folder in root/var/ will full write/read permissions for everyone.

Speech issues have nothing to do with the Linux server being the file server.
You mentioned you did upgrade, from where to what version did you upgrade?

just from version 8.1 one release before to the latest one. It was just transfering calls internally had a slight crackle and then the call when quite and came back. The new firmware has fixed this but its the file server that's the main issue as it should be the same if i use the IP office or a file server.

I still think it is not true being the fileserver.
The phone downloads the file and then it has nothing to do anymore with the Linux server for files.
It could be an issue when a lot of phones are downloading and a caller goes in to voicemail.
But speech issues on a phone after updating is not something i would believe without seeing it happen.
Or do you think the firmware is corrupt?
