Hello

I expect this to be a very easy question but could someone advise how to make a phone forward all calls to an external number at the push of a feature button.

Phone system is Avaya (ASA version 5)
Handsets in use are Avaya 9620

The phones already have the feature button 'call-fwd' available but the number has to be entered each time this is selected. I want it so all a user has to do is click the one feature button and that sets the forward to an predetermined external number. I presume this has to be entered into the remote coverage table but how do you get a feature button to dial a remote coverage item as the only option you can enter next to 'call-fwd' is an ext?

Thank you for any help you can provide

Simplest way is EC500 if you have that feature , this will essentially twin the call so the desk phone and cell phone ring together, or you can set a 2nd cover path to a remote coverage table , (you set this code in the feature table and then assign to a button), then toggle between the two coverage options.

Also if needed but I don't think you would ever do this is, create a virtual extn and have that assigned a cover path that points to remote coverage , you could then enter that station in the call-fwd extn field.

Hi

Thanks for the quick reply.

Yes we do have EC500 and this did cross my mind as a solution. I just thought there might be an easy way to make this happen using some kind of simple one button forward key but for the life of me couldn't see it.

I've never used a 2nd coverage path but if you can advise how to set this with the option in the feature table and how to assign it to a button I'll take a look at this too.

Again, thank you very much for your assistance with this it's very much appreciated!

Let's say you programmed remote coverage path R1 for station 1000,
then create a coverage path 100 for example with R1 (actually type R1)on the first point.
Put this coverage path in station 1000 config.
It would always go to that coverage point, after a number of rings.
Create a send-calls button, and when that is pushed it goes there straight away, until it is pushed again.

Now let's say you wanted 2 coverage paths to choose from; Create 2 coverage paths, lets say 100, and 200.
Put these on station 1000 record.(notice it has 2 fields for a coverage path.)
Then look up the Feature access code for switching the active coverage path.
To make it easier create 2 buttons, containing the feature Access code to switch between active coverage path 1 and 2.
So let's say the FEA is *88, then create one button to autodial *88~p1 and one *88~p2 (may not need the ~p)
This way they can decide to have regular coverage when in the office, and mobile when they are out,
but still limited to the number you put in the coverage remote table.

There you go could not have said it any better than telcoguy

Brilliant.

Thanks guys, I'll take a look at this when I get 5 minutes to see what's what.

If I get any problems I'll definitely come back and let you know [smile]

Alternatively, setup a coverage path 100 which looks just like your normal coverage path to vmail except change the SEND CALLS flags to NO NO. Also make the NEXT PATH at the top of the screen another path....say 101.

Setup coverage path 101 to use a remote coverage point like telcoguy says above and make all of the options NO NO except "SEND CALLS" set to YES YES on the path form.

Assign the user to coverage path 100. Normal operation, calls will ring the phone and then vmail. When they press SEND CALLS, it will send all calls right away to the cell.
