Guys,

I am upgrading one of our avaya office manager pbx from R6.0 to R11.0, is there any sequence to follow?

I normally upgrade from R9.0 to R11.0 following the sequence(from R9.0 to 10.0 and then from R10.0 to R11.0)

From R6.0, do I need to follow also the sequence from R6.0 to R7.0 to R8.0 to R9.0 to R10. and then to R11.0?

Your best bet is to do an SD card recreate. Stepping up from r6 to r11 will leave you with next to no available space on the SD card.

Make sure to have your PLDS license file and don’t forget to backup the config to your computer.

But you DO need to go to 8.1((65) or 9.0 BEFORE you go to 11. So pop out the cards, recreate on 9.0, put it back in and reboot. When it is done and on 9.0 pop it out again and recreate on 11.0. Be sure the config.cfg file and PLDSKeys.xml are in the Primary directory before powering up to upgrade to 11

@TTT - can it be done R9 jumps straight to R11? If I have the upgrade license? No need to recreate the SD Card?

R9 can go to R11 in one step - IP 500 only (Not SE or AppServer, as they may require some work in the Linux shell to prep them)

"No need to recreate the SD Card?" - well, if you are going to use the Upgrade Wizard, and you have enough room on the SD card, yes, no need to recreate the SD card. The point of recreating the SD card is to speed up the upgrade. The Wizard can take close to 2 hours to upload all of the files, while recreating the SD card just makes the reboot take about 10 minutes and the files to upgrade the phones are ready to go.

@TTT - our client has R9 IPO SE is it the same on upgrade thru web manager? Just transfer the ISO?

For IPO SE you need to upgrade to latest 10.0 SP before upgrading to R11.

Warning: In all cases, always backup all application data to a separate location
