Hello,
I'm fairly new to telephone systems, as I've come from the world of server administration. Please excuse my very broad question.

Typically our office extensions exist in the three digit realm of 200-250. Today, for some reason, they all went to two digit extension numbers, and at random (so 234 is now extension 20).

When I entered the closet, the main "console" phone (with the display and the expanded pad on the right side with the extensions) was completey red. After about 1/2 hour of trying to troubleshoot the issue I power-cycled the phone system. It came up more responsive than before, yet the extensions issue is still outstanding. When I use WinSPM 5.0 to connect to the system it downloads the list and shows the extensions in the 2 digit range (the incorrect values). I attempted to re-program one of the extensions to the old tree digit extension and the console wouldn't allow me to do so.

Any help is much appreciated. I would love to give version numbers, etc, but I'm at a loss since i'm sitting on my couch right now. I do know that we're using version 5.0 of the WinSPM applicaiton.

Thanks
-Matt

WinSPM R5 is a bit outdated. You can download the upgrade [patches from Avaya.com to get your software up-to-date (Release 9).

As for your extention numbering issue - do you have a "backup" PCMCIA card in the processor? If so - whatever happened to your programming - may be able to be "restored" from that backup card. IF it exists - a backup would be automatically performed every Sunday at 2:00am.

So - check and see if it is installed. Otherwise - you will need to perform a "system renumber" operation to get your extention numbering back where it needs to be.

Well it seems that the backup I ran yesterday included the wrong configuration (i set the 5.0 software to download a backup, and shortly after that is when the telephone system went haywire). I used the WinSPM to restore a backup from the flashcard, which I used autoback2, and it seemed to have restored everything to what it was.

After that I updated the WinSPM software to version 9 and downloaded a full backup to place on my server. It seems to be okay now. Thanks a ton for your help.. I really appreciate it!
