Hello,

I'm programming an Embedded Auto Attendant (AVAYA IPO 500) and the AA script goes like this:

"if you know the local number you are calling please dial it now, otherwise please
press 1 for local 102,
press 2 for local 312,
press 3 for local 380,
press 4 for local 410, or
press 5 for local 303"

the thing is the Extension Numbering is in the 100's, 200's, 300's, 400's, 500's series so there is a conflict with the AA press 1 to 5 and the Direct dial by number, so when I press 1 it goes to local 102 and when I dial 118 it still goes to local 102.

My question is What do I program in the Embedded AA so I can still use the press 1 to 5 and the Direct Dial by Number.

Simple way is to create hunt groups with a different start number that does not conflict with the options

Add your extn as a member of the group.

So you will need 5 groups.

Option 1 …transfer to group 701. Member 102
Option 2 …transfer to Group 702. Member 312
Etc…….

The other way to to transfer to another AA from the main AA menu.
So you press 1 which transfers to another AA. Which you press 1 again to transfer to your local extn.

Option 1 …transfer to localAA1 Option1 transfer to 102
Option 2 …transfer to localAA2 option2 transfer to 302

Main menu
1 transfer to LocalAA1
2 transfer to localAA2
3 transfer to localAA3

Etc

You could also set it up to require hitting something first, like #, and then dial extension. "If you know your party's extension please dial #(pound)+ the extension".

This really is more a voicemail pro functionality to be able to dial 1 for a specific extension AND be able to dial extensions starting with 1. Embedded can do it but it gets messy and doesn't always work perfectly.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

Actually using # before dialling the extn is the better idea.

I forgot about that…..that’s the way I would have normally done it.

It’s been a while since I have used AA embedded.
