What is the best way to change several stations from 6408 to IP model 9611?

This is only an opinion but the best way would be to use System Manager and build a template or as many as necessary then apply to your users. You can tweak the template to be exactly the way you want for each station or user type.

If you don't have System Manager you can still use the Avaya Site Administration tool to make the changes. Although you can make templates for created new stations, you can't apply them to existing ones. You can use the Find and Replace function to change the station type, and filter by station range or other criteria if you want to limit the scope of the change and not affect every station.

BUT... (there's always a but.)

Some feature buttons and programmed buttons may revert to default or become blank when changing the station type. I'd create a test station and try the change on that before committing a whole lot of changes.

I hope that helps.

My experience has been just the digital and analog stations. I have not done IP. Is it possible to just change the station type to the IP model? The temple was my first thought (thinking of digital) but each user has been allowed to pick their own button mapping. So, on the most part, there is no standardization.

It is definitely possible to change the station type from 6408 to 9611 and can be completed per individual station or with the find and replace in ASA. The only thing to watch for is any buttons or other settings that get blanked out or change to default. It may work flawlessly but it might not, which is why I recommend testing one or two stations before running a find and replace on 100s or even just 10s of stations.

Easier to fix one or two than a bunch, which is my primary concern with running a command that could change ALL stations in the blink of an eye.

If you use that method, you will need to x port the station and save before you change to an IP model phone.

Best Way" as in most accurate/least affecting to users? Either manually or using ProVision

You will still need someone to walk around and log all the phones in too.

Most "accessible" way? The ASA suggestions above would probably work but I've never tried it.

Thank you for all of the support. I will definitely try one before doing a bunch of them. So, I need to x port the station before changing the model? That does make since.
