I was running IPO v9.1.3 on a Dell 620 Server Edition, recently there is no traffic on Port one and the phones can not connecting to the IPO i have recently upgraded to service Pack 8 hoping that the port will come up online but still noting, does anything ever experienced this, Please assist.

Are you able to connect to the IPO at all?

When you connect an Ethernet Patch Cord to the Port on the Dell Server, do any lights illuminate at all?

Is the NIC Card built-into the Motherboard or is it via a card that can be re-seated?

Have you tried re-booting the system?

Was the problem existing prior to the upgrade?

Hi Rodney,

Yes i am able to connect to the IPO using port 3 and port 4 but not the licensed port 1 and port 2, when i connect the cable directly to port 1 yes i se the light illuminate,
yes the its a Del 620 with Embedded NIC, we have rebooted and upgraded from 9.1.3 to 9.1.8

yes the problem was there before the upgrade.we upgraded as there was an article which said an upgrade might fix the problem

Can't find an article that says you should try an upgrade, closest I find is install SP4 if you don't wanna use the CP.

As said in the Technical Tip 283 you should apply the Critical Patch before upgrading.

"Avaya recommends that customers running release 9.1 Server Edition or Applications
Server software on the PowerEdge R620 platform install the CP before attempting any
planned upgrades or maintenance
. The CP is available for all 9.1 releases – 9.1 GA, 9.1
Service Pack 1, 9.1 Feature Pack and 9.1 Service Pack 3."

Technical Tip #283

Critical Patches for 9.1 GA, SP1, SP2, SP3

"Trying is the first step to failure..." - Homer

Hi Janni78 version 9.1.800.0 build 172 doesn't it have the critical patch already or i needed to run the patch before upgrade, Can i run the patch after upgrade?

Tx

I can only say what the TechTips say.

Either you'll need to downgrade to 9.1.3, apply the patch and the upgrade again or contact Avaya if they have a solution for 9.1.8.

Applying the patch on 9.1.8 would downgrade part of the system which could cause more issues.
