Hi everyone,

I'm new for Avaya CMS, and I have to reboot CMS server this weekend. Could someone give me some advice about this process, and how to check everything is ok after rebooting it. Thank you so much.

Prior to doing a reboot I would STRONGLY recommend doing both a cmsadm and cmsmaint backup.

cmsadm: login as root
put a tape in the tape drive
type cmsadm
select option 3 (backup)
follow the prompts

cmsmaint: login as cms
put a tape in the tape drive
type cms
press m (maintenance)
select backup
press return
select run
follow the prompts

reboot: login as root
type shutdown -y -g0 -i6 (that's g zero)

CMS will shutdown & reboot. You should be able to watch it from the monitor.

Avaya recommends monthly cmsadm backups and monthly reboots. The cmsmaint backup should be running nightly.

Hi,

Thanks for helping.

Avaya tech send me a command

Login as "root"
then
cd /
/usr/sbin/shuntdown -i6 -g5 -y

Is that the same command you post?
Thank you

'-gX' is the grace period that the CMS will wait before it does the reboot. Mine was zero minutes, Avaya was 5 minuttes - your chouce.
