Dear Members,
I was configuring remote console on my Avaya CMS system to test that the modem i configured for remote access is working fine. I followed the Avaya documentation for the same. Unfortunately after redirecting the local console to remote console the modem line was accidently pulled and i lost the session.
Now i cant access the system locally or remotely, locally the monitor is blank and keyboard not detected/working, remotely the modem is not working and i cant configure a new modem..so i cant access remotely..

how can i get the control back locally??? Please help as the system was meant to go live this week and we are in deep trouble...

Have you resolved this yet? You should be able to use a x-over cable and connect directly to the server on LAN 2 and log in. The default IP address of the server should be 192.11.13.6/30 make your PC 192.11.13.5 (255.255.255.252) and you should be able to access the system via the web interface, or with ASA. You just need to use the LAN2 address to get in and then you should be able to finish your modem configuration.

DOH! I misread and thought you meant CM. Do you know the IP address of CMS? You could telnet in from the LAN or (again) use a x-over cable and connect directly to the NIC.

i know the ip address of the CMS, i tried to ping it's not pinging, earlier i was able to ping, i had connect many times using putty, terterm etc....now i am not able to ping the server.
I have physical access to the server...i tried to power cycle and pressed STOP+N to get the console back but nothing happened. I think the keyboard is not detected anymore as the num lock and other other lights on the keyboard doesnt lit up.
I tried to connect through the serial port and no response from the port....

I tried to double click the power button while the system boots up, but that is also no working...
i have tried everything i read in the avaya documentation...

Anybody please help.

gabber4858,
i have the crossover cable and which port should i connect to and what ip address i should assign, also what is the NET MGT and SER MBT ports on the back side of the server.

To clarify, you have powered down CMS and restarted it? What version of CMS is this, and what kind of server /OS is it on? When you reboot the system do you see any POST output, does the operating system start, do you get a tty, is there a disk in the drive? At the console you can try and switch to a different TTY session by pressing CTRL + ALT + F1 (F2, F3, etc). That will only work if the system is not hung, and depends on how the system is configured.

Dear gabber,
yes i powered down and restarted it, CMS version is 16, OS is Sun Solatris 10, Machine is Sun Sparc t 5120, I don't see anything on the screen when i reboot, the monitor says no signal and after some time the Monitor get the signal but is blank. There is no disk in CDROM all hard drives and storagetek tape drives are in place, i will try to get different tty as u said,

Is there any other way to recover????

Oh man.....your not going to be able to get a different session. It sounds like something serious happened on your server, not with CMS. I would try and get someone from the server group (one that knows Unix) and look for the recovery disks. Start paying close attention to it as it boots to look for any indication of what is wrong (listen for beep codes, etc). Might be the graphics, hard drive, motherboard, etc. I don't want to sound negative...... Only thing I would suggest is hope its the monitor that went bad, and try and swap it out.
