I have a DS1 circuit that is down and I am trying to trouble shoot. It is a TN464F board configured as ISDN-PRI. The D channel in the Signal Group is in service. My question is this, when I connect a loopback plug to the integrated CSU for that circuit should the circuit show In Service when I status the trunk group? Since the data transmitted is looped to the receive pair the board should see this as a live circuit, correct or no?

Do a test board + board number. All tests should pass. Post the outcome with the loopback plug and also when connected to the carrier. We might be able to help you.

I agree with G van Hamburg. Most likely the carrier has an issue and you need to open a ticket with them. You could also perform a 'list measurements ds1 summary board'. List measurements ds1 log will show you error counts in intervals.

Test with LB and Test while connected to carrier are identical. All initial tests pass and then every channel fails/abort test 257.

Test with connection to carrier.

Test with LB in CSU.

Yes, all B channels are down but the signal group is in service operating on the secondary D channel.

Does 'list measurements ds1...' show anything?
Have you reseated the board yet or swapped with another ds1?

Has this every worked? I've seen this before on new install and had to 'change ds1' and set the protocol version to b.

Lis meas shows a high count for UAF/FS. I haven't swapped or reseated boards yet because the entire trunk group went out at the same time, 5 circuits in all. The circuit I'm testing is just the first circuit in the trunk group. I assumed it wasn't my equipment and it had to be the carrier since all five circuits went out at the same time. The carrier is AT&T and they can't find any issue on their end. These circuits have been working for years, not a new install.

Tell ATT to loop to your CSU(s) and run test patterns. I'm surprised testing the board didn't reveal anything but the measurements show issues and it would seem obvious that there is an issue with ATT.

If the signal group is in service, try a busy and release of the trunk group. If it comes into service you may have an issue with the channel protocol and it may go out of service again. Ask your provider what type of central office switch you are connected to. A 4/5ESS will use protocol a on the DS1. A DMS 100/250 are different and a DMS500 can go either way. Also depends on your country. Check in the Screen Reference manual for the DS1 parameters. Of course the carrier may also have put the DS1 in lock-out.
