I have 2 announcements, 1 day & 1 night. I have 10 locations with 10 different DID #'s. I want to point all 10 DID #'s to a vector then have each vector give a day & night option. Day gets options to: enter 5 digits & call x-fers tot hat extension, dial 2 for dial by name, or dial 0 to route to an admin. Night only routes to a voicemail where the admin checks messages periodically.

Day = x63500
Night = 63515

I changed the name on both and now when dialing either of these numbers, nothing happens - only dead air. Before I was able to dial either 63500 or 63515 and I could hear the options presented but after renaming both, I hear nothing but dead air after renaming both. I simply changed the name by typing in CHANGE ANNOUNCEMENT 63500 & CHANGE ANNOUNCEMENT 63515 and simply renaming both. I did not make any other changes anywhere and now I cannot hear the previously recorded greeting for x63500 & 63515 - why? Is there something I'm missing or forgetting to check or enable?

I believe you need to rerecord them

so just by changing the name it requires the recorded greeting to be erased? I must now re-record the greetings? IF so, how? When I dial either number it just disconnects immediately, how can I re-record the greeting for both that were previously existing?

yes it needs to be rerecorded,they were deleted when you changed the name on the greetings

too late his greetings are already gone

so what are the steps to take to re-record the day greeting for x63500 & the night greeting for x63515? Does anyone know or can point me in the right direction? Re-recording the greeting is the easy part, figuring out exactly how is not something I'm familiar with...

are they on a val board or an announcement board?

changing name "change announcement 07173" will not remove the .wav file but will unlink the extension from
the .wav file. You can copy the .wav file and change the name of it to match the new name of the announcement and will
work again.

If you know what announcement board they were on:

list dir /annc board xxxx
list integrated xxxx

Code:
list directory /annc board 04B15                                Page   1   SPE A

1st you need to make sure your cos has console permissions, 2nd find out what the feature access code is for recording announcements, then 3rd write down the announcement numbers. Then for example if *7 is the record announcement code and the announcement is 7004 it would go like this assuming you have the correct cos for console permissions, press *7 you will get a dial tone, enter announcement number you will get another dial tone then press 1 to record, 3 to delete recording or 2 to listen to recording.

I'm trying to figure out the specific commands to re-record an announcement.... unfortunately, there's NOTHING documented from my predecessor

Or you can also do it the way Avaya Tier 3 suggested, but my way will instruct you going forward on how to record new ones in the future, listen to Avaya Tier 3 as he is pretty sharp on his game

.wav files can be recorded and they copied to valboard /annc folder - use ftp, sftp, scp, winscp, etc.
Then the name of the .wav file used must match the name on the announcement extension (CASE sensetive)

recording announcements from phone or console is an option that creates a .wav file for the announcement extension.
No copy, download, upload necessary unless you want to have a backup of these .wav files.

I see the size & length are zero for ext 63500 & 63515 - due to the fact this is named differently than the .wav file both were originally associated with. However, for board location, I see 001V9, 003V9, 004V9, 005V9, 009V9, 010V9, 011V9, 012V9, 021V9, & 022V9. I see each extension listed above under each board location listed here.

how can I list all .wav files that currently exist? if I can see that, I can determien what the original name is since the actualy .wav file hasn't been changed. I can simply change the name on both greetings to match what exists for the associated .wav files. How do I list all .wav files? what is that specific command? I'm on Avaya CM release 6.0.1

AvayaTier3 - I'm following what you say, however ,some ofthe commands you list aren't accepted in my system. I'm typing them in corectly but there are issues with determining what announcement board they are on.

I want to review the existing .wav files for x63500 & x63515 and then simply go back to LIST ANNOUNCEMENT and change the name back to match the .wav file and it should work, correct?

Thanks for you help!!
