Hi,

I am trying to find the prerequisites to deploy the above solution to a customer with an Avaya Aura system (Communication Manager).

How does MS Lync integrate with Avaya, is it just a case of installing the plug in's to the Lync clients (Much like One-X communicator)
or will they need a trusted AES connection to their Lync server.

Any advice or links to installation/implementation documents would be appreciated

Many thanks

All the docs are on Avaya's website. Basically, you download a configuration tool that let's you specify if your environment is h323 or sip, what IP it should register to, etc, and use that to build a package for your customer.

It just installs as a Lynx plugin and steals voice/video capabilities from the Lync client and redirects them to CM.

The only caveat is they should really have e.164 numbering in active directory. The ACA plugin looks at the "telephone number" pushed from AD to the Lync server to the Lync client to derive the telephone extension from - and having non-standard syntax in there will make the Avaya plugin unhappy/prompt for extension at every login.

thanks for your response kyle, i wasn't sure if I needed some AES/CTI link but it looks pretty straight forward to control an Avaya IP phone with a Lync client.
Lync has a direct login to CM

I was recently at an AVAYA briefing center and they said the new plugin allows you to give Lync back control of audio/video, which was definitely a positive. I haven't tried it yet, but it certainly presents options.

wpetilli - is that in the current release now, or at least announced and non-NDA stuff?

I thought they referenced it as being out now. I'll double check and circle back.

I have 6.3.2 installed and I had to hack my registry to give video control back to Lync. It would be great if it was a choice during deployment.

Care to share that registry key? :D Or where one might find it?

I do not remember exactly where, but you can do a search for 'TelephonyMode' and change the setting from 5 to 0 and that will give Lync back the video control.

It's not set that way by default.. you have to make that registry modification.
