This question is on a Avaya Basic. When some phones call in, for caller ID, you get “wireless caller” and then the phone number (712XXXXXXX). Is there a way to assign a name to that number? In the contacts section, it lets you erase the “wireless Caller” part, but won’t save anything if you type in a name. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks

What kind of lines do you? If you have SIP or PRI upgrade to standard mode immediately. SIP and PRI does NOT work correctly in Basic. Your customer will never be happy with it.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

you should be reaching out to your line provider as that service may not be available

Think of this as a cell phone being called, if I put in "Bill" for 7125551212, then when 7125551212 calls, it will say "Bill" on my cell phone. Can the Avaya Basic do this. The "cheap" 2 line Motorola phone they had could do this.

Not sure on basic but on normal under system-->telephony there is a favour teunk/favour directory option.

The favor trunk/directory can be found in basic under the advanced parameters.

The trunk favor is for SIP trunks, these are POTs lines. Any other ideas? I appreciate the help.

Sorry you are right not sure why I have SIP stuck in my brain. If you added a system speed dial, and that does not present that name on incoming, I doubt it is possible in basic mode. Basic mode is pretty crappy there is a reason so many guys on this forum simply refuse to use it.
