Hi guys I have two buildings both buildings are on the same network same location the are connected with fiber. In building A I have the ip500v2 and in building B I have a ip400v4.2. On the ip500 the extensions are 3xxx and in the ip400 they are 4xxx. The problem I'm having is I'm not able to login into a 3xxx extension from building B nor can I login to a 4xxx extension from building A. The system is able to call from A to B and B to A. How can I fix it where I can login to any phone with any extension either 4xxx or 3xxx?

The software gap between systems is too great, only 1 major release difference is supported, you must have at least 3/4 I reckon :)

building b is type--IP406DS version--4.2(23)
building a is type--IP500V2 version--7.0(36)

That's 3 releases, what does the system maintainer have to say? :)

thanks guys... upgrading will cause a restart no matter what right

so just leave the ip500 where it is at and then just upgrade the ip400 to v5

Correct me if im wrong, but as far as i know remote login is an SCN feature, and the major release gap supported by an SCN network is 2.

And considering 6.0 and 6.1 different major releases, even if he upgrades to R5, there will be a 3 major release gap (6, 6.1 and 7).

Its upgrade time for you my friend. Did you take Andys advice to see what your maintainer has to say? They are the people you should be speaking to about this.

Like said above this is an SCN feature and there are too many things to look into to cover on this forum, but can't be done with the setup you have.

You need to get an Avaya BP to site, see what you have and quote for the upgrade. The 406 will go to 6.1 with a license, but im not sure that is available anymore TBH.
