We're having a terrible time getting these phones to work properly offsite (or onsight for that matter). Without getting into all the technical details and things we and the Avaya Business Partner have tried to this point... are these phones know to have problems?

gebski, is there a firewall involved? In the VPN Setup Guide it says

"Third-party devices by the following vendors interoperate with Avaya VPN phones and may
have certain limitations as per the note below:
• Checkpoint
• Cisco
• Juniper
• Nokia
• Nortel"

We're using a different brand. ... wonder if that is the problem?

It's a standard IPSEC VPN client, I've gotten them to run on Sonicwall and Firewalls. You have to match up the Phase1 and PHase2 proposals and it has to be exact. In particular the Phase 2 IP subnets in the proposal have to match on both ends perfectly.
