I have a new install IP Office R9. I set up the IP Office in our office so I could get the firmware upgrade completed on the phones. I had no problem connecting to the IP Office. I installed the equipment at the customer site and connected to their Cisco SG 500. The phones cannot find the call server. It retrieves the router ip address and gets assigned an IP address but just can't find the switch. Anyone familiar with setting up the Cisco SG 500 to work with IP Office 9608 IP phones? The IT tech is asking what settings need to be in their network. Any assistance is appreciated.

You need DHCP option 242 coming from your DHCP server. In the settings for option 242, you specify the call server's IP address. (IP of the IPO chassis)

You should use VLAN's and let the data DHCP or the switches provide the voice VLAN to the phones and let the IPO be the DHCP server in the voice network.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Not 100% sure, but a suggestion would be to look at a port setting on the cisco called auto smart ports. A few years ago I had a similar problem once where the switch detected the phone as an Avaya unit and assigned some ridiculous settings to the port which stopped everything working.

It could be completely unrelated, but its worth looking at.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. The issue was resolved when I activated dhcp on the ip office and put the system on it's own vlan.
