Hello, all. I am new here so please be patient.

I am trying to connect an Avaya 9608 IP Phone to a Netgear FVS338 router to test and integrate with our current phone system before sending it to a remote office in Idaho (I am currently in CA). Problem is, it stays in a continual "loop" of sorts trying to discover the phone box IP address. I have been trying to configure the router by accessing it, but I don't see anything that will allow this router to forward this type of traffic. What am I missing here? Whether I connect it through our switch with the rest of the network or directly into the router, It continues to loop. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Mike

Blasts. Ok, I'll talk to my boss see if he knows anything about it. He was the main contact when this was setup. Do you know by chance how to revert back to DHCP on the 9600? I imputed a static address in hopes of setting the thing up manually. Is it in the CRAFT prompt?

Does the 9608 work if you connect it directly to the IP Office(i.e. without the VPN link)?

Yes, back in to program with CRAFT. If you go in and blank out your static addresses, router, mask that you entered it will put it back in DHCP mode.

Scratch that. He accessed the switch on his comp. Here is the info we got:

IP 500V2 Version 9.0.200.860

Combo6210/ATM4 Version 9.0.200.860

Avaya Virtual Endpoint License, Instances: 12

gwebster, I have not, but sounds like something I should try. However, this will be going to a home office in Idaho which has no IP Office switch. It will more than likely connect to a home router or one configured for this Avaya 9608. Is that a bit too ambitious?

Tim, ok I will try that. Thank you!

Great. We can eliminate the IP Endpoints and IP Office version.

Have you tried the reset/clear commands on the phone?

I have to go, but maybe someone else can continue troubleshooting with you.

I have only tried the reset command. I changed all the addresses to 0.0.0.0 and it still won't go into DHCP mode. I'll try the CLEAR command. Thank you very much, Tim, I, too, need to head home in a few. Have a good evening.

Here is another question: when entering addresses, do I enter them in the Internal or External sections of the phone?
